Safety
The part of this business we take most seriously.
Inflatable rentals are genuinely fun and genuinely risky. Most incidents come from three causes: wind, poor anchoring, and too many kids at once. All three are preventable. Here's what we do about them, and what we need you to do.
What we require of every vendor
- Current general liability insurance. We collect a certificate of insurance at onboarding, check the coverage limits and expiration date, and re-check on renewal. A vendor whose certificate lapses is paused until it's current.
- Proper anchoring. Stakes on grass, sandbags or equivalent ballast on concrete and asphalt. Never rely on the weight of the unit alone.
- Park-approval where it applies. Most Los Angeles City and County parks require the vendor to carry liability coverage naming the city or county as additional insured. Filter for park-approved vendors when you're booking a park event — a vendor without it may be turned away on the day.
- Posted limits. Every listing states its footprint, surface requirements, power needs, and rider limits.
Our wind policy
Santa Ana winds are the single biggest hazard in this valley, and they concentrate between September and December. Our policy is simple and it's the same for everyone:
- If the National Weather Service forecasts sustained winds above 20 mph for your date and location, or issues a wind advisory covering it, you can take a full refund or a free reschedule.
- We watch forecasts for confirmed bookings and reach out — you shouldn't have to ask.
- If winds pick up during your event, get everyone off the equipment immediately and call your vendor. Do not wait to see if it settles.
Your responsibilities as the host
The vendor sets it up. Supervision during the party is yours.
- An adult watches the unit the entire time it's in use. Not from inside the house. Not "the older cousins are keeping an eye on it."
- Group kids by size. Big kids and toddlers in the same unit at the same time is the most common way children get hurt.
- Respect the rider limit posted on the listing and on the unit.
- No shoes, glasses, jewelry, or sharp objects. No food or drinks. No flips or wrestling.
- If the blower stops, evacuate immediately. The unit deflates quickly. Never let anyone stay inside to "ride it down."
- Keep the blower plugged into a dedicated outlet and keep the cord where nobody trips on it.
Before your event
- Clear the setup area of rocks, sprinkler heads, pet waste, and low branches.
- Confirm there's a working outlet within about 100 feet, or arrange a generator with your vendor.
- Make sure there's a clear path for delivery — gate width is the most common day-of problem.
- Check that the vendor's posted footprint actually fits your space, with a few feet of clearance around it.
If something goes wrong
Take care of the injured person first, and call 911 if it's serious. Then notify your vendor, and email us at safety@hellorally.co. We document every incident reported to us and review the vendor's standing on the platform.
Rally is a marketplace, not the rental operator. Verifying insurance and setting standards reduces risk — it doesn't eliminate it. Please read the safety terms in our Terms of Service.
